SDI-12 "Serial Data Interface at 1200 Baud" is an asynchronous serial communications protocol that was developed for intelligent sensory instruments that typically monitor environmental data.
These instruments are typically low-power (12 volt), are often used in remote locations, and usually communicate with a data logger or other data acquisition device. Using the Heron SDI -12 cable the Heron dipperLog groundwater data logger will act as an SDI-12 sensor allowing it to be used in an SDI-12 network.
